Wild Ox is a three-mana green 3/3 creature from Portal (1997) designed as a straightforward teaching card, it emphasizes simplicity and efficiency. Portal sets were created to introduce new players to Magic, and Wild Ox exemplifies that philosophy. A clean stat line, no text, and clear expectations made it ideal for learning combat fundamentals. Although Wild Ox has no competitive relevance, it remains a recognizable example of Portal-era design and appears occasionally appears in nostalgia. Wild Ox is not on the Reserved List.
