Wandering Stream is a three-mana green sorcery from Invasion (2000), that lets you gain two life for each basic land type among lands you control. Wandering Stream represents early 2000’s “Domain” design – simple scaling mechanics before modern refinements like Leyline Binding, Tribal Flames, or Territorial Kavu. While not powerful, it’s part of the legacy that led to modern five-color archetypes. Domain is an ability word used on cards that rely on and count the number of different basic land types (zero to five) a player controls. The Invasion block was the first major multicolor-focused set since Legends. Its Domain mechanic rewards players for controlling multiple basic land types, encouraging five-color play. It’s a simple expression of Invasion’s core philosophy: the more colors you play, the more you gain. At full power, ten life for three mana is an acceptable rate. Since many casual Domain decks already run multiple land types, this card scales up easily. In Commander (EDH), it sees occasional play in budget Domain decks or lifegain subthemes (e.g. Scion of Draco, Niv-Mizzet Reborn or The World Tree). Wandering Stream is also Pauper-legal, since it was printed as a common. Here, it sometimes appears in sideboards of Domain Ramp or Turbo Fog-style lists for lifegain against burn or aggro decks. Wandering Stream is not on the Reserved List.
