Treva, the Renewer is a six-mana bant 6/6 flying Legendary Dragon creature from Invasion (2000). Whenever it deals combat damage to a player, you may pay (2)(W). If you do, choose a color, then you gain 1 life for each permanent of that color. It’s not a competitive tournament card and never has been, but it has enjoyed a long life in Commander and casual multicolor decks. In Commander (EDH), Treva sees nearly all current play as Bant (GWU) lifegain or token-based commander. It is not top-tier, but it’s valued for lifegain synergy – Treva’s damage trigger allows large bursts of life, especially when you have many creatures or enchantments of a chosen color. It pairs very well with token strategies, because tokens dramatically amplify her life gain trigger. Common synergies include: Selesnya tokens (white/green), enchantment-heavy boards, and color-dense creature swarms. Many players use Treva because they loved Invasion, the original Primeval Dragons, or simply want a classic, straightforward dragon leader. This card is popular in Bant Lifegain, Token Swarm / Go-Wide, Old-School Dragon Tribal, and in Enchantress-Style Lifegain. Treva is not a cEDH threat, but remains a very enjoyable and thematic mid-power commander. Outside of EDH, Treva is mostly seen in: “Five-Color Dragons” kitchen-table decks, and Big-mana green casual decks. In Limited: Invasion Draft / Sealed, Treva was a bomb-level finisher, only castable in committed Bant or 5-color decks – capable of swinging games with huge life gain. It’s a surprisingly versatile card, since you may target any color – including the opponent’s board. Treva, the Renewer is not on the Reserved List, it has been reprinted in Duel Decks: Phyrexia vs. The Coalition.
