Timeless Lotus was designed as a modern homage to Black Lotus and Gilded Lotus. It represents the eternal, multiversal magic of Dominaria – capable of producing mana of all five colors. Unlike Black Lotus, which sacrifices itself for immediate explosive power, Timeless Lotus trades speed for sustainability – once untapped, it becomes a permanent mana engine. It’s “timeless” because it bridges eras from old-school Lotus flavor with modern balance. The “legendary” artifact tag reinforces its mythic, singular nature. Timeless Lotus is also one of the few cards that taps for all five colors at once, symbolizing mastery over the entire color pie. This card was used in Standard (2022-2023), where it primarily saw play in ramp and control decks that could afford to tap out for a five-mana rock. Decks like Jodah, the Unifier (5-Color Legends) used Timeless Lotus to fix mana for heavy color requirements and power out multiple legendary threats like Jodah, Esika, God of the Tree, and Kenrith, the Returned King. It was also occasionally played in Reanimator decks to ramp into huge payoffs like Atraxa, Grand Unifier or Portal to Phyrexia. It worked perfectly with Teferi, Who Slows the Sunset, which could untap it for some explosive mana turns. Timeless Lotus is arguably one of the most popular mana rocks in Commander (EDH) printed in recent years. Since Commander games go long, playing a five-mana artifact is acceptable when you get so much mana in return. Timeless Lotus is not on the Reserved List.
