Terror is a black instant first printed in the Alpha set (1993), and one of Magic’s most iconic removal spells. It helped define black’s identity in early Magic and shaped the standard for efficient creature removal. It was an efficient removal spell because it destroyed almost any creature permanently without having to worry about regeneration effects. Terror remains an important card in Old School (93/94), where it sees occasional play in budget or mono-black midrange/control decks. It is also used in certain Commander, Pauper and custom vintage cubes focused on early-era power. Terror is known for its reliability in formats where nonblack, non-artifact threats are common. Terror is not on the Reserved List, it has been reprinted in multiple sets.
