This card is a perfect example of Unhinged’s meta humor – it takes the “alternate win condition” option (e.g. Mortal Combat, Battle of Wits, or Door to Nothingness) and turns it into something absurdly impossible yet thematically delightful. The idea is simple but hilarious: if you can assemble permanents whose names collectively use every single letter of the English alphabet, you just win the game. It’s a puzzle, a scavenger hunt, and a linguistic challenge all in one. Now I Know My ABC’s is a wink at children’s alphabet games, recast through Magic’s overcomplicated mechanics. It fits blue’s flavor of intellect, curiosity, and puzzles – while also making fun at Magic’s increasingly complex card names and wordy designs. This card is only legal in silver-bordered games such as Unhinged Drafts, Unstable Cubes, and Casual “Un-Commander”. Because there is no competitive setting, decks using this card are usually built around “the joke” rather than actually winning the game with it. Still, players love to see how close they can actually get to an alphabet win. This card is not on the Reserved List.
