Free mana is the most dangerous thing in Magic design, and \u003cem\u003eMox Ruby\u003c\/em\u003e gives you perfect red acceleration for no cost. Playing with this card gives a tempo advantage, as it lets you cast impactful cards earlier than you’re supposed to. It smooths mana bases and enables fast starts even in color-heavy decks. It is restricted in Vintage and Old School and banned in every other sanctioned format. In Vintage, it’s an auto inclusion in every red based deck and many other decks that want to use as much fast mana acceleration as possible (e.g. Jeskai Control, Shops, Paradoxical Outcome Storm). In Old School (93\/94), \u003cem\u003eMox Ruby\u003c\/em\u003e is one of the most desired cards for Red Deck Wins, Mono-Red Burn, or Atog Aggro lists.
