lotus-bloom-oils
Lotus Bloom (Original Art)

Featuring the OG Zug version, the “Lotus” painting genre is by far the most sought after in Magic as a 1/1 collectible, attributed to its link to the game’s most powerful and iconic card, Black Lotus. Lotus Bloom is an artifact first printed in Time Spiral with suspend 3-(0) that can be sacrificed to add three mana of any one color. This is huge in decks that want a one-turn big mana push. Decks that can recur artifacts (e.g. Tameshi, bounce/recursion engines,..) use Lotus Bloom as an engine rather than a single explosive play, that’s why modern Tameshi decks and some cEDH lists value it highly. Lotus Bloom was an important enabler in many Standard Dragonstorm lists in the late 2000’s. This combo deck used Lotus Bloom to generate a large amount of mana together with other mana ramp spells (e.g. Izzet Signet, Rite of Flame, Seething Song) to cast a Dragonstorm. This generally stormed out 4 Bogardan Hellkite which would each deal five damage to the opponent to finish the game. In Modern the card is very popular as it is being played in various combo decks like Ad Nauseam, Tameshi Bloom and Belcher. Belcher variants use it to reach critical mana on their big combo turn and modern ‘Tameshi Bloom’ decks can use Lotus Bloom as a repeatable engine. Playing with Lotus Bloom means tuning your deck for the window between playing it and cashing it in. Mulligan decisions, discard protection, and artifact recursion play an important role when playing these decks. Michael DeBenedetto-Plummer recently won Pro Tour Edge of Eternities 2025 where he played his modern Tameshi Belcher deck featuring Lotus Bloom. Lotus Bloom is not on the Reserved List and has a few reprints (Time Spiral Remastered, Modern Masters, The List,.).

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0721/8000/6957/files/Lotus_Bloom_Original_Art_front_a_white.jpg?v=1775126865
