It was commonly paired with cards like \u003cem\u003eWinter Orb\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eStasis\u003c\/em\u003e, and \u003cem\u003eIsland Sanctuary\u003c\/em\u003e to generate a draw advantage lock while opponents couldn’t attack or untap. \u003cem\u003eHowling Mine\u003c\/em\u003e was one of the key cards in the original Turbo-Stasis decks, which won games by locking out opponents and slowly drawing into a win condition. During Pro Tour Rome 1998, \u003cem\u003eHowling Mine\u003c\/em\u003e appeared in some Turbo-Stasis sideboards.
